When can my child start?

Your child is able to attend Isleham Preschool from the age of 2 years 9 months, depending on availability of places.  All children are eligible for Early Years Funding the term after they are 3 years old.


Isleham Preschool operates from a purpose built building in the grounds of Isleham Primary School. We are open Monday - Friday 8.30 - 3.30 (7 hours) term time only.

8.30 Preschool opens.  A 10 minute transitional time from 8:30 is set aside for parent/carers to chat before the start of preschool.

12.00 Lunchtime.

3:20 Preschool finishes. A 10 minute transitional time from 3:20 is set aside for parent/carers to chat before the end of preschool.

3:30 - Preschool closes.

Daily parent time surgeries run at 8.30 - 8.40am and 3.20 – 3.30pm.

Morning sessions with lunch  (4 hours) 8:30am - 12:30pm

Afternoon session with lunch (4 hours) 12:00pm - 3:30pm 

Afternoon session without lunch (3.5 hours) 12:30pm - 3:30pm


If your child is staying for lunch please label their lunch box. We promote healthy eating at our setting and encourage them to start with the savoury food first.  Please ensure that all grapes and other small round items are cut long ways otherwise these are a choking hazard.

snacks and drinks

The children have unlimited access to water. Milk is also available throughout the day. Children need to bring a snack for the morning/afternoon and they can access this when they feel hungry.


show and tell

We have a treasure box in our main entrance where children can put their treasure items for a show and tell later on in the day to the rest of the class.

Please keep an eye on our website where our policies and procedures can be found, we up-date these on a regular basis and hard copies can be found in the red or blue folders in our hallways


All staff are trained to recognising signs of child abuse and are committed to respond promptly and appropriately to all incidents or concerns of abuse and will work with statutory agencies in accordance with the procedures that are set out in our child protection policy.
